IMPORTANT TRAIL CONSTRUCTION PLEASE READ

Happy Spring everyone,
I hope you have been out enjoying the trail and all the Spring wildflowers.

As many of you know Buffalo Township received two TAP grants from Penn Dot for resurfacing (with crushed limestone) about 10 miles of the trail. The project is slated to start tomorrow, 5/22. Attached is the construction schedule. What I can’t tell you is when, where and if the trail, will be closed. What I know is at the 5/10 Buffalo Township stated each section would be closed 24/7 until that section was completed. No further discussion on construction due to the Pen’s game.

But now there is new information that has been communicated to Derailleur Bike Shop Cafe, (taken from their Facebook post) from Buffalo Township Supervisor Chair John Haven.
“As it stands right now, the trail will be closed ONLY when and where work is in progress during the week. No part of the trail will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Holidays and most likely not on Friday because typically the contractor works Monday through Thursday. We are pleased that the closures are to be much more limited than we were earlier led to believe. We still it would be feasible to keep the entire trail open with the use of flagmen as have been used in the past on this and other trails.”

What I still don’t know is:
1. How do trail users know where the contractor is working and when?
2. Who is posting and signing what section is under construction, there is no information on Buffalo Township website or their Park and Rec Committees Facebook page and there has been no press release?
Along with many others. Everyone is in support of the project, that is not the issue. The issue is if you are closing the trail how do people know? Folks travel from other states to ride/walk/hike, boy won’t they be surprised.

The next supervisors meeting on May 24th, 2017 at the Municipal Building at 7:30pm
Buffalo Township
109 Bearcreek Road
Sarver, PA 16055
Or if you cannot attend, please call or email the township your concerns or for daily update.

I will post a new update after the meeting.IMG_0540
